An English house for hill days
This is a two-bedroom English house in Landour, made for people who prefer making the day up as they go. Put the kettle on, leave a book beside the sofa, and let the hill weather decide whether you spend the afternoon out or stay in. The house has heating for cool spells, along with air conditioning when the sun catches the rooms.
It works particularly well for a small family or a few close friends who want their own base rather than a hotel routine. There is a proper kitchen for breakfast and simple dinners, a coffee maker for slow starts, and a workspace if one person needs to open a laptop. At night, the TV and warm rooms make staying in feel like part of the plan.

First evening
Landour cools down early on many evenings, so the heated rooms come into their own. Make a simple dinner in the kitchen, then settle around the TV instead of heading back out after dark.

Next morning
The first job is coffee, not a rushed breakfast slot. If work has followed you uphill, the dedicated workspace is there; otherwise, leave the laptop shut and take the morning at your own pace.

Departure
Use the last hour for one more cup of coffee and a proper pack rather than a scramble. Guests often leave wishing they had planned an extra morning for the house and the slower Landour lanes around it.

Primary bedroom
One of the two private bedrooms has heating and air conditioning for changing hill temperatures.
Second bedroom
The second bedroom gives families or two couples a separate place to turn in after a shared day.
Two bathrooms
Both bathrooms have hot water, hairdryer access, shampoo and everyday essentials.
Kitchen
The kitchen includes a fridge, cooking basics, coffee maker and the equipment needed for simple meals.

The shared indoor area centres around the TV for low-key evenings at home.
Dedicated workspace
A designated work spot and Wi-Fi make it possible to handle a few hours online without taking over the kitchen table.
Laundry area
A washer, tumble dryer, iron and hangers make longer stays easier to manage.

We took this home on because Landour suits a slower kind of stay, and a house gives guests room to keep their own rhythm. We tell everyone to use it as a home: cook if you like, keep the heating on when the evenings turn cool, and treat the place with the care you would give someone else's home.
Step outside the gate
Where you are.
Landour sits above Mussoorie on a wooded ridge, where the roads narrow, walks come with a climb, and the pace is noticeably quieter than the Mall Road below. Old homes, small bakeries and deodar-lined stretches shape the neighbourhood. A car is useful for moving between Landour and central Mussoorie, but some of the nicest nearby stops are better reached with an unhurried walk.
