A house with its own rhythm.
Joie De Vivre Mukteshwar is a six-bedroom boutique homestay built as a family vacation home, with the kind of practical warmth that comes from being designed for real stays rather than showpieces. The house sits in Mukteshwar, in Uttarakhand’s Kumaon hills, and the setting shapes everything here: local hill aesthetics, earthy finishes, open air, and long views that make the day feel slower. The property was put together with local craftsmen, which gives it a grounded, handmade character instead of a polished resort feel. Inside, the six bedrooms and six bathrooms make it easy for a full family group or a set of friends to stay without crowding each other, and the common spaces are set up for shared meals, reading, music, and unhurried evenings by the fireplace. The kitchen has the basics needed for self-catering, while breakfast, housekeeping, and building staff help keep the stay easy. With a balcony, garden, outdoor dining area, BBQ, and outdoor furniture, the house is clearly made for time spent looking out, eating outside, and using the mountain weather to its fullest. It feels like a place for guests who want comfort, privacy, and a direct connection to the hills rather than a generic hotel experience.

The home is in Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand, in the Kumaon hills, about 62 km from Haldwani. Sashbani is a quiet village setting, with the wider Nainital side of Mukteshwar close enough for day drives and local meals.
From the host: We built Joie De Vivre as a family home, with local craftsmen and the kind of details we wanted for our own holidays. We keep the house comfortable, well-stocked, and easy to use, so you can arrive, settle in, and enjoy the hills without fuss.
